James E. West Fellowship

James E. West was the first Chief Scout Executive of the Boy Scouts of America, and he served in that position for more than three decades. The James E. West Fellowship program recognizes donors who make a $1,000 or more gift of cash or securities to the council's endowment trust. This gift is in addition to, and not to replace or diminish, the donor's normal FOS/SME gift. Many individuals and corporations make these gifts either on behalf of someone else-such as in Honor of an Eagle Scout, Silver Beaver recipient, a retirement, or special accomplishment, or anniversary –or in memory of a special individual. This is an excellent "entry level" step for further involvement and commitment to our council endowment effort. The initial $1,000 gift could be counted toward the minimum Scouting Heritage Society gift as part of an additional outright, planned gift, bequest, or pledge.

If an institution is truly "the lengthened shadow of one man," it is more than fitting that the BSA honor James E. West's significant contributions to Scouting in such a significant way.
