Cub Scouts

Cub Scouting is an exciting and adventurous program coupled with skills and values development for boys in first-grade (or age 7) through fifth grade. It is a family and neighborhood based program organized into 3 groups.

Tiger Cubs are first-grade boys who, with their parents, have fun learning about family communication, preparing for emergencies and understand the environment. Field trips and family activities are a big part of Tiger Cubs.

Cub Scouts are made up of second and third graders. Boys work toward accomplishing fun achievements and electives and are rewarded with emblems for their work. Activities include lots of fun things including, in most packs, camping with the family.

Webelos Scouting is designed for fourth- and fifth-grade boys. They pursue activity badges for achievements in academic skills, technology, sports, and community involvement. Webelos and their parents often camp with Boy Scout troops.
Adventure, learning, challenge, responsibility - the promise of Cub Scouting is all this and more.

Activities in the Northwest Texas Council

Cub Scouting means "doing." Everything in Cub Scouting is designed to have the boys doing things. Activities are used to achieve the aims of Scouting-citizenship training, character development, and personal fitness. Many of the activities happen right in the den and pack. The most important are the weekly den meetings and the monthly pack meetings.Apart from the fun and excitement of Cub Scout activities, the Cub Scout Promise, the Law of the Pack, and the Cub Scout sign, handshake, motto, and salute all teach good citizenship and contribute to a boy's sense of belonging.

FAST TRACKS is a series of den meeting plans (two den meetings per month) designed to be used in conjunction with the youth handbooks. By following the prescribed den meeting plans as written, the boys will fulfill the requirements necessary to earn the badge of rank by early spring.
