Scoutmaster Specific training is made up of 3 sessions discussed below. The sessions may be offered together in an 8 hour day or on separate days. It should be followed as soon a possible by Introduction to Outdoor Leader Skills. This training is for Scoutmasters and committee members and chair person. Please contact the Scout office to make reservations for the next upcoming training. Getting Started: The Role of the Scoutmaster in a Boy-Led Troop Approximate time - 2 hours 40 minutes This session covers the role of the Scoutmaster, troop organization and troop meetings. Working with boys and the patrol method are emphasized as is how to have an effective patrol leaders council. Lighting the Fire: The Outdoor Program and the Advancement Program Approximate time - 2 hours 25 minutes How to put sizzle in the outdoor program is the emphasis of this session. Putting the nuts and bolts together to have safe, successful outdoor program leads to advancement. Keeping it Going: Program Planning and Troop Administration Approximate time - 2 hours 30 minutes Program planning, membership, paperwork, finances and the uniform are topics of this session. An overview of other training opportunities is also presented.
