The Northwest Texas Council is committed to providing the best program possible for the youth in Scouting and believes that can be done best when leaders, both adult and youth, have had proper training.

All unpaid fees will be collected at the training session. We ask that if you plan on attending any training, RSVP to the Council Service Center (940) 696-2735 and confirm which training course you will be taking at least 1 week prior to the training This will greatly improve our ability to plan for your training. Also for the Leader Specific trainings, please indicate which position in the unit you will be training for.

The first training for ALL new leaders in Scouting is Fast Start.  Every unit should have copies of the appropriate Fast Start Tapes and Viewers Guides. Scouters may also take any or all of the Fast Start trainings online by clicking the link above.:

Youth Protection Training
is important training for all adults in the Scouting movement. Every unit should have a designated person assigned to assure that Youth Protection Training is offered frequently. The preferred method in the Northwest Texas Council is taking the training online, but is available with throught DVD. Youth Protection Training may be taken on line by clicking here. 

New Leader Essentials
Training for all new leaders in Cub Scouts, Boy Scouts and Venturing.

Wood Badge
Advanced training for all leaders in Cub Scouts, Boy Scouts and Venturing.

Safe Swim & Safety Afloat online training

Scouting Under Construction
Hands on training for all traditional Scouters. Includes everything from unit administration to crafts, cooking and rappelling to using the computer in Scouting. New Leader Essential and all Specific training will be offered and need and instructors available

Trainer Development Conference (Unit Training Chairman) Provides information and techniques for anyone involved in facilitating the training for their unit.

Roundtables
Each district holds monthly Rountables that provide new and updated information and program ideas to unit leaders.

Cub Scout Trainings

Cub Scout Leader Specific Training - Specific trainings for all Cub Scout leaders. (Tiger, Wolf, Bear and Webelos Den Leaders; Cubmasters, any assistants, Committee Chairs and Members)

Basic Adult Leader Outdoor Orientation (BALOO) - Outdoor training for Cub Scout Leaders. One person is required to have this training and be present if the Pack is going on campouts.

Webelos Outdoor Leader Skills (WOLS)- Outdoor training for webelos Leaders.

Scoutmaster and Assistant Scoutmaster Specific Training - Specific training for Scoutmasters and their assistants

Introduction to Outdoor Leader Skills - for Boy Scout Leaders
